Joseph Galera

Attorney

Joe Galera grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA and went to high school in Minnesota so he considers himself “part-Minnesotan”.  After graduating Temple University’s School of Law, Joe decided to head west and found his roots stuck in Colorado taking a position with a big firm in Denver. Unsatisfied with that work, Joe decided he was better suited to helping individuals rather than big corporations.

Joe Galera is an experienced litigator with thousands of hours of courtroom experience. His experience helps him empower clients to know their rights and help them make better decisions to protect themselves and their families.  Mr. Galera has spent the majority of his legal career helping people assert and protect their legal rights against the government, law enforcement, and those who violate his clients’ civil rights.

Mr. Galera brings diverse experience to bear to help clients solve their problems. Joe is able to leverage his degrees in accounting and Spanish, as well as deep international business work with Ingersoll-Rand’s Financial Management Development Program in the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the United States to see solutions where others might only see roadblocks.

After leaving big firm life, Mr. Galera honed his skills first as a Deputy State Public Defender in Colorado Springs where he defended indigent defendants accused of crimes such as homicide, assault, domestic violence, and drug charges.  Subsequently, Mr. Galera expanded his legal experience representing both individuals and employers in civil and employment law matters in Colorado state and Federal courts, and family law matters in Colorado’s state courts. Joe continues the same advocacy he values here at New Leaf Family.

When he’s not working, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and two children exploring Colorado and coaching youth basketball where he tries, in vain, to convince the kids that playing defense matters.
